Social Media Trends: Video in 2020

If 2019 was all about getting out there with video, 2020 is we will reach video parity: Video content will exceed the amount of text-based content. 

And it’s going to get crowded and competitive. 
So, 2020 will favor high-quality and unique video content.
Two trends to watch out for in 2020:

Trend 1:

Businesses will continue to embrace video shows as a legitimate (and even first-class) form of content. What was in 2019 considered appropriate for personal brands, will be more widely adopted by businesses. A lot of this work will be done in collaboration with influencers.

Trend 2:

A shift from opportunistic content to strategically planned vides.

Those of us who started out with video by creating opportunistic video posts (mostly as live video) are now beginning to realize that one has to invest the video creation efforts as part of a well thought out strategy, just like we do with blogging. If last year’s most popular workshops at Social Media Marketing World were about tips and tricks for getting started with video, the 2020 show has a whole track dedicated to video strategy.
